Our Wedding

Anna Landon (Aspen) and Michael Fyans (Teja) met on the summer solstice in 2020, a day of peak solar expression in a hugely transformative year for mankind. The two free-spirited souls snuck out of lockdown to met each other at Sugarhouse Park in Salt Lake City, Utah. Upon meeting, they both felt an instant pull towards one another. They spent the rest of the evening enjoying the warm sun, the mountain views, and each others company. Aspen was Impressed by Teja's meticulously crafted van, and she enjoyed getting to know his gregarious dog, Bailey. They talked with each other well into the evening, basking in the excitement and joy they felt in each others deep presence. After spending a few days inseparable, they found an adventurous connection through their love of nature, and soon embarked on their first camping trip. Bailey was their loyal co-pilot as they found a lovely, quiet, camping spot out in the Uinta's. They laughed, cried, danced, sang, talked, explored in the mountains, and reveled in their new found connection. Throughout 2020 and 2021, Aspen and Teja continued to grow closer. This was a time of great transformation, both individually and for the collective. Despite the challenges that this brought up, they deepened their trust, communication, friendship, and love. Some of their most cherished memories from this time include cooking together, getting lost in deep conversation, and camping out on snowboarding trips in Teja's cozy, converted bus. Spring 2021 brought a shift as Teja felt the call to leave Utah and travel to Nevada City, California in his bus. He landed at his sister Tiffiny's home, where he was welcomed with open arms and an invitation to live in his bus on their property while he explored this new territory and what it had to offer. At the time, he didn't realize that one day both he and Aspen would call Nevada City home. Aspen visited him shortly after he moved and also fell in love with the charming, quaint town in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. They enjoyed lounging and swimming in the majestic Yuba River, eating fresh, delicious food from the local farms, and connecting with the beautiful, heart-centered locals. They both felt so much magic in this area, something fresh but familiar, and found a sense of peace and well being. Like any good story, Aspen and Teja's journey was full of twists and turns. Although Aspen felt deeply called to be with Teja in Nevada City, she had an intuitive desire to travel to the east coast, where she grew up. She followed this call, and temporarily moved in with family in western New York. The summer of 2021 found Aspen and Teja on opposite ends of the country, still deeply in love, but separated by thousands of miles of physical distance. Undeterred, the lovers continued to nurture their connection. They kept each other updated on their daily activities and Aspen regularly stayed up late to talk to Teja, who was three hours behind her time. They couldn't stay apart for long. In August of 2021, Aspen returned to Nevada City for another visit. The day she arrived, the air became thick with wildfire smoke from the nearby fires, and the pair retreated to the stunning Redwood Forests of Humboldt County to find some fresher air. Being their first time in the redwoods, they were breath taken by the massive, powerful, and ancient trees. Sitting with the wisdom of the trees, and along the peaceful expanse of the lost coast brought Aspen and Teja closer again. After this short visit, Aspen returned to the east coast, and they hoped that the next time they were together it would be for good. Teja's Sister Tiffiny and her beautiful family lovingly opened up their spare living space as a landing pad for the couple, so that Aspen could move out to California and be with Teja.Teja flew to New York in the fall of 2021. After a couple lovely weeks of family time and exploration, Aspen and Teja started their long drive back to California to start their new life together. The pair quickly settled into life in Nevada City. Together, they found community and made new connections, started new hobbies and found new passions, and even weathered a couple of historic snowstorms. They cherish the numerous sweet moments they have together, and do their best to face life's challenges with presence and trust. Throughout 2022 and 2023, the two lovingly cultivated their lives together, feeling grateful every day for their meeting and ever-deepening connection. They continued making time for the activities that brought them together like camping, traveling, and snowboarding, and they discovered new shared passions along the way. They both started regularly attending the local ecstatic dance, where they found a new passion for dance and creative expression. They found a love for learning to play new instruments together, like the Handpan, Djembe, Ngoni, and have been enjoying expressing through voice and song as well. They also both found themselves on a path of studying and practicing Chinese Medicine, QiGong, gardening, and making herbal medicinal tinctures that quickly turned into a number of modalities that they enjoy sharing with others. In their time here, Aspen became a certified dog trainer, and started a successful, local pet services business. She also got certified as a QiGong instructor, which has deepened her connection to the mind, body, spirit, and the ability to share these gifts with other is something that brings her much joy. Teja has been studying and practicing Chi Nei Tsang, a holistic healing modality in Chinese Medicine, since 2021, and has also been offering sound/vibration/frequency therapy as a healing modality. He opened his own wellness practice here in Nevada City at the beginning of 2024. Aspen and Teja have been cultivating a vision for their future, with much love and support from Aspen's wonderful parents, to own and tend land on which they can manifest their dream of building a family homestead, raising children, working with animals, tending gardens, and expanding their businesses. In January of 2024, Teja took the brave leap to make this dream a reality, by asking Aspen's parents for their blessing to marry their Daughter Aspen. The moment was vulnerable, sweet, and tender. Aspen's parents, Karen and Chris, joyfully gave him their blessing. Under the guise of setting up a family photo session, Aspen, Teja, Karen, Chris, Aspen's brother Max, and Teja's sister Dani all gathered in the mountians of Kaysville, Utah, just a few miles from where Aspen and Teja initially met and fell in love. While the couple was posing for photos watching the sunset, Teja got down on one knee, presented a beautiful ring, and asked Aspen to be his wife. She joyfully accepted, their family celebrated the magical moment, and they unlocked a powerful super-connection for this new step on their journey together!They traveled back to California, feeling a renewed sense of purpose, and eager anticipation for the year to come. This year has been full of blessings, manifestation, envisioning, coming together, and making things happen! Aspen and Teja are growing ever closer to their families, and are so excited to bring everyone together to celebrate their sacred union and life path.

There are 2 airports that you can choose to fly into if you are traveling by air.Grass Valley, California is located about an hour north of the Sacramento International Airport, and about 1.5 hours west of the Reno/Tahoe international airport in Reno, Nevada. There are many options for lodging here in town, from the historic National Hotel, the historic Holbrook Hotel, The Gold Miners Inn, and several other charming Inns/Motels. There are tons of homes and cabins for rent on Airbnb and Vrbo, and lots of campgrounds near town and within 30-45 min drive. If you choose to book an Airbnb or a hotel, we recommend looking into it as soon as possible, as August tends to be a busy season in this area for travelers and outdoor enthusiasts. We are also offering and encouraging those that would like to camp on our property to bring a tent, sleeping bags, and some camping gear, and find a peaceful spot on the land to stay and hangout for the weekend.
